I am so sick of people judging me or being a vegan/vegetarian. People either give me weird looks, tell me how unhealthy it is or call me something like "hippie".
How can you ever judge someone unless you know what they are going through? Most of the time we don't even know someone's back story before we start judging them. I did not become a vegan because of animal rights (although now I cannot imagine eating an animal). I did not become a vegan because I am some weird health freak (although now I see how veganism is so much healthier than other eating habits). I am a vegan because I have IBS.

What is IBS? IBS is just a term that doctors use instead of saying "I have NO idea what is going on inside of you. But let's just call it IBS." To me IBS is an extremely painful stomach problem that can keep me from doing daily activities, eating normally, or even getting out of bed. How do I manage my IBS so that I can live a normal life? I cut all fats and trigger foods out my diet. What are my trigger foods? Meat, dairy, egg yolks, most nuts, and oils. It is no fun but it is my life. And it is much easier to tell someone that I am vegan instead of saying "Eating that may cause diarrhea or constipation or incredible stomach pain, leaving me imprisoned to my house for days."
So please, don't judge people until you know their situation. Everyone has reasons for why they do something and it may not be what you think.
Now that I am eating this way again maybe I will get skinny (just trying to look on the positive side).
I think it's so cool that you're vegan. Not the IBS though. That seems SO common these days, is it because all of our food is so bad for us?
ReplyDeleteI am trying to eat more fruits and veggies and less meat. I only eat chicken and fish now but I always feel better when no meat is in my meals.
